Set Up Standalone
In standalone mode, Paynt operates directly on the terminal without connecting to external systems like POS or ERP solutions. The merchant enters payment amounts manually, then hands the terminal to the customer to complete the transaction.
The app manages the entire payment flow—from initiation through completion and status confirmation—making it a self-contained solution. This mode works well for small retail shops, kiosks, and mobile merchants who need quick deployment with minimal setup.
This guide helps you set up your terminal and complete your first standalone transaction.
What You'll Need
Receipt Roll
Ensure your terminal has a thermal paper roll inserted correctly with sufficient paper remaining.
- Turn the terminal over and open the paper lid using the release lever.
- Check the existing paper roll or remove the old one.
- Insert a new roll with the paper feeding from the back and coming out from the top.
- Pull about a thumb length of paper out.
- Close the lid firmly until it clicks (the lid must be fully closed for printing to work).
- Tear off the extra paper.
Battery
- Ensure the terminal has sufficient battery. Use the provided charging cable to charge the terminal (see the Terminal section for charging port location).
- The app monitors battery status and turns off the screen when not in use. It will shut down completely when the battery reaches a critically low level.
Start the App
After turning on the terminal, the Paynt POS app starts automatically (this may take a moment).
